The historic Walled City of Intramuros in Manila held its inaugural fiesta on September 8, 2024, in honor of Nuestra Señora de la Consolación y Correa, coinciding with the Feast of the Blessed Virgin Mary. The event, known as Fiesta de Intramuros, was highlighted by a mass at San Agustin Church and a week-long celebration called Dulce Septiembre, featuring religious activities and communal feasts.
The Manila City Council officially declared Our Lady of La Consolacion y Correa as the patroness of Intramuros, bestowing her the title “Queen and Protectress of the Distinguished and Ever Loyal City.”
Manila Mayor Honey Lacuna emphasized the fiesta’s significance in boosting tourism and rekindling devotion to the Virgin Mary, which waned after World War II.
