Kris Aquino, affectionately known as the Queen of All Media, has shared encouraging news about her ongoing health journey. The beloved actress and host, who has been battling autoimmune disease, recently communicated to her friend and writer-editor, Dindo Balares, about significant progress with her condition. Her autoimmune medicines are finally showing positive effects, and her appetite is returning.

Health Update from Kris Aquino

Dindo Balares shared an update on his Instagram account on May 15, revealing details of his recent conversation with Aquino. While Aquino expressed concern over recent findings from her cardiologist, which highlighted issues with her heart that couldn’t be addressed due to her low weight, she was elated by the improvements in her autoimmune condition.

“Pinag-usapan namin na broken hearts lang, never na broken spirits… Worried si Kris sa findings ng kanyang cardiologist, lalo’t wala pang pwedeng gawin para maisaayos sa ngayon na napakababa ng kanyang timbang. Pero hindi nito napigilan ang kanyang tuwa sa latest findings naman sa kanyang autoimmune disease,” Balares wrote. (We discussed that while we have broken hearts, we will never have broken spirits. Kris is worried about her latest findings with her cardiologist especially since she can’t do anything to improve her weight yet. But this didn’t stop her from being elated with the latest findings about her autoimmune disease.)

Aquino’s joy comes after years of medical treatments that showed little progress. “Finally, pagkaraan ng ilang taon nang pagpapagamot na walang nakikitang progreso, walang natatanaw na liwanag, tinablan na ito sa wakas ng itinaas na dosage ng methotrexate plus Dupixent,” Balares added. (Finally, after many years of being treated with no progress and no longer seeing the light of day, the raising of methotrexate plus Dupixent dosages finally worked.)

Grateful for Prayers and Support

Aquino extended her gratitude to those who have been praying for her recovery and urged them to continue seeking divine assistance. “‘Can you please thank everyone praying for me? Please thank everyone praying BUT they have more to pray for,’” she said through Balares. “Prayer works. When we pray, God works.”

Returning Appetite and Food Cravings

In a subsequent post on May 16, Balares highlighted another positive sign of Aquino’s improving health: her returning appetite. “Bumabalik na ang food cravings ni Kris. Sabi ng grandfathers ko… pag naghanap ng masarap na pagkain ang may karamdaman, pabalik na sa mabuting kalusugan ang katawan,” he noted. (Kris’ food cravings are coming back. My grandfathers told me that if a sick person is looking for delicious food, it’s a sign of their improved health.)

Aquino, who has been residing in the United States for her treatment, mentioned missing specific Filipino dishes like laing and lechon kawali. Balares’s wife is planning to send these favorite dishes to Aquino as a gesture of love and support.

Continuing the Fight

Earlier in February, Aquino shared in an interview that the next six months would be crucial for her as she begins a new medication regimen. Despite the challenges, she remains determined to fight her autoimmune condition. “The next six months are crucial,” she said, indicating the importance of this period for her health.

Conclusion

Kris Aquino’s recent health updates bring a wave of optimism to her fans and supporters. With her autoimmune treatment showing positive results and her appetite returning, there is renewed hope for her recovery. Aquino’s resilience and determination, coupled with the continuous support and prayers from her loved ones and fans, underscore her unwavering spirit in the face of adversity.
