Several areas in Luzon experienced landslides and flooding as heavy rains from the Northeast Monsoon (Amihan) and shear line battered the region, GMA Integrated News’ Unang Balita reported on Monday.

Landslide in Ifugao

In Banaue, Ifugao, a landslide blocked a portion of the Banaue-Mayoyao road, covering it with soil and rocks. Fortunately, no injuries were reported. According to PAGASA, continuous rains brought by Amihan triggered the landslide.

Flooding in Sorsogon

In Bulan, Sorsogon, heavy rains caused flooding in several areas, submerging homes and forcing residents to evacuate. Some residents used makeshift rafts to navigate through the waters, while strong currents at a bridge spillway made travel difficult for motorists. Around 200 evacuees have returned home as floodwaters slowly receded.

Palawan Barangays Affected

In Brooke’s Point, Palawan, 11 barangays were hit by floods after a river overflowed due to continuous heavy rain. Over 200 families sought shelter in evacuation centers, while others stayed with relatives.

Authorities continue to monitor the situation as more rains are expected due to multiple weather systems affecting the country.
