NBA legend LeBron James publicly endorsed Kamala Harris for president on Thursday, urging voters to support her in her race against Republican candidate Donald Trump. James, the all-time leading scorer in NBA history, shared his endorsement on social media, stating, “When I think about my kids and my family and how they will grow up, the choice is clear to me. VOTE KAMALA HARRIS.”
James’s endorsement includes a video contrasting Trump’s past rhetoric with Harris’s policies. Harris, who would make history as the first Black woman president if elected, has received notable support from celebrities, including Meryl Streep, Chris Rock, Oprah Winfrey, Beyoncé, and Taylor Swift.
The endorsement comes as Harris seeks to shore up support among Black male voters, a demographic where her backing has declined compared to Joe Biden’s 2020 levels, according to October Reuters/Ipsos polls. James has previously endorsed Democratic candidates, including Hillary Clinton in 2016 and Joe Biden in 2020, continuing his advocacy for social and political causes.
Harris and Trump are locked in a tight race, with Election Day approaching on Tuesday.
