Former Vice President Leni Robredo has officially announced her candidacy for mayor of Naga City, with plans to file her certificate of candidacy (COC) this weekend. According to GMA Regional TV stringer Mike Jaucian, Robredo’s bid for the mayoralty will be formalized on Saturday.
Robredo’s running mate for the 2025 elections will be outgoing Camarines Sur Representative Gabby Bordado. Bordado, who served as vice mayor during the tenure of Robredo’s late husband, former Interior Secretary Jesse Robredo, as Naga City mayor, will join her in this political endeavor.
A post on Robredo’s official Facebook page revealed the full lineup for their city council slate, consisting of both current and former public officials, as well as community leaders. The candidates running for Naga City council under the Robredo-Bordado ticket include:
- Outgoing City Administrator Elmer Baldemoro
- Incumbent Councilor Jess Albeus
- Incumbent Councilor Gayle Abonal-Gomez
- Outgoing City Budget Officer Frank Mendoza
- Atty. Areiz Macaraig
- Former City Health Officer Dr. Butch Borja
- Former Councilor Miles Raquid-Arroyo
- Incumbent Councilor Omar Buenafe
- Incumbent Councilor Jose Perez
- Incumbent Councilor Oying Rosales
Robredo emphasized that her selection process was thorough and community-driven, stating, “Ang aking mga kasama ngayon, lahat na-evaluate base sa tatlong kategorya: sa ethical standards, sa capacity at experience, sa governance.” (The people with me were evaluated based on three categories: ethical standards, capacity and experience in governance.)
The lineup was the result of consultations with over 2,000 residents, organizations, and sectors in Naga City, reflecting a broad and inclusive approach to forming her team for the upcoming elections.
