Filipina actress Liza Soberano brought her charm and grace to the first-ever Ho Chi Minh International Film Festival in Vietnam, serving both as a jury member and a presenter. The event, held on April 13, marked a significant moment as it gathered cinema enthusiasts and filmmakers from around the globe to celebrate diverse cinematic talents.
Soberano, renowned for her roles in both television and film, dazzled attendees in a stunning custom black gown designed by Anthony Ramirez. Her look was expertly styled by Perry Tabora, with makeup by Mickey See and hair by Renz Pangilinan, whose behind-the-scenes glimpses on Instagram captured the preparation and excitement surrounding the event.
Expressing her excitement on Instagram, Soberano shared her appreciation for being part of such a culturally rich event, noting the festival as an “amazing showcase of talented filmmakers from all over the world.” Her involvement not only highlights her status in the entertainment industry but also her commitment to supporting film as a medium that fosters “freedom of expression and challenges the way we think.”
During the festival, Soberano played a pivotal role in the judging panel, particularly for the First or Second Film category, alongside other esteemed figures such as filmmaker Nguyen Thanh Van, New York Asian Film Festival executive director Samuel Jamier, film producer John Badalu, and Academy Award-winning film editor Tom Cross.
The festival also saw the success of the Filipino film “The Gospel of the Beast” by Sheron Dayoc, which won the Golden Star Plum for Best Feature Film, bringing pride to Soberano and the Philippine cinema community.
