Actress Lovi Poe opened up about her aspirations for motherhood and the challenges she faces, both in her personal life and career. Married to her British husband Monty Blencowe since August 2023, Lovi shared her desire to be a great mother, inspired by the strong maternal figures in her life, including her own mother, Rowena Moran.
“It’s the most challenging ever,” Lovi said about the idea of motherhood. “I’m such a perfectionist when it comes to the characters I play, what more in real life? If there’s one thing I would like to do perfectly, it’s to be a good mother.”
For Lovi, balancing her career and family life is crucial, especially with her husband based in the US. She expressed the need to shorten the distance between them and hopes to spend more time together. “I still have so many projects lined up, but if it (having a baby) happens, it happens. I will welcome it completely,” she told Inquirer Entertainment during the renewal of her endorsement contract with the skin care company SCD.
At 35, Lovi is aware of the impermanence of an acting career, which is why she founded C’est Lovi Productions and is working on her first full-length feature. “That’s one reason I ventured into producing, so that I could still be part of the industry even though I’m no longer acting,” she explained.
Despite her busy schedule and the challenges of a long-distance marriage, Lovi finds joy in her work. “I love acting so much. When I’m on the set, I could probably say that I’m at my happiest,” she said. Her husband, Monty, is very supportive of her career. “I’m just grateful that he is very understanding and supportive of my goals,” she added.
Reflecting on her early years in the industry, Lovi shared the negative comments she faced about her appearance. “I was told that I was never going to make it because I was dark-skinned, because I’m flat-chested. I was 15 when I was told that I was never going to make it because I’m chubby,” she recalled. Despite these discouragements, Lovi remained determined to prove her worth as an actress.
To young girls struggling with insecurities, Lovi offers encouraging words: “Don’t let yourself feel down. Stay positive and just work to become your best. It’s important to surround yourself with good people and always have a positive outlook on life.”
