The Land Transportation Office (LTO) has issued a Show Cause Order (SCO) against a motorcyclist captured on camera slashing the tire of a delivery van in Quezon City after a road altercation. The incident, which went viral on social media, prompted the LTO to act swiftly, with the order signed by Renante Melitante of the LTO-Intelligence and Investigation Division.

The identity of the rider was ascertained through the motorcycle’s registration details, leading to the imposition of a temporary alarm on the vehicle to prevent any transactions while the investigation is ongoing. The rider, residing in Malabon City, has been summoned to the LTO Central Office on March 25 to explain his actions.

LTO Chief Assistant Secretary Atty. Vigor D. Mendoza II emphasized that the issuance of the SCO serves as a reminder to motorists to remain calm on the roads and avoid aggressive behavior. He highlighted past penalties for road rage incidents and urged motorists to practice restraint.

The viral footage shows the rider arguing with the van driver before using an object to puncture the van’s tire and fleeing the scene. The police, led by Police Major Mike Diaz of QC Police District Station 10, have been instructed to locate and investigate the motorcyclist. The initial probe suggests that a minor collision led to the heated exchange.

Authorities are encouraging the van driver to file a complaint, potentially leading to charges of malicious mischief against the rider.
