There is no stopping for the city government of Mandaue, Cebu in giving aid to its constitiuents and barangays who sustained massive damaged left by Typhoon Odette.
Mayor Jonas Cortes recently distributed 27 heavy duty generator sets for each of the 27 barangays in the city.
These generator sets will be used to energize the barangay’s water system as well as for the constituents to have a charging station as not all barangays in the city have power source.
Aside from the generator sets, the city government is giving satellite phones to all of its 27 barangays as communication is still difficult due to toppled wires and cellsites among telecommunication companies.
On the other hand, typhoon victims in barangay Cambaro comprising 557 families whose houses were wrecked, received 25 kilos of rice and 10 liters of drinking water.
Next to receive the aid were the 585 families in Barangay Cubacub.
Mayor Cortes is asking all his constituents for understanding as the ones who will receive first the aid are among those whose homes were severely damaged but assured other typhoon victims in the city to receive the same aid in the coming days.-(April Therese Tan)
