During the ASEAN Summit in Vientiane, President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. met with executives from SHERA Public Company Limited, a Thai firm specializing in fiber cement, to discuss the company’s upcoming investment in the Philippines. SHERA’s new plant, set to open in Mabalacat City, Pampanga, with a P2.9 billion investment, is expected to start operations in the first quarter of 2025.

Marcos welcomed the investment, expressing confidence that it would create jobs for Filipinos and decrease the country’s reliance on imported building materials. “SHERA’s eco-friendly building solutions will help make the Philippines a hub for smart and sustainable manufacturing,” he said.

The plant will focus on producing fiber cement materials for ceilings, walls, and decorative elements, supporting the country’s construction sector and contributing to the local economy.

During the summit, Marcos also emphasized the importance of supporting micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) across ASEAN, which make up 99% of businesses in the region. He highlighted initiatives aimed at improving MSME access to financing, digitalization, and capacity building
