President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. extended his sympathies to the United States following the catastrophic floods in Texas that have claimed at least 110 lives.
In a statement released Thursday, Marcos expressed the Philippines’ solidarity with the American people during this time of crisis.
“On behalf of the Filipino people, I extend our deepest sympathies to President Donald Trump and the American people as they face the devastating floods in Texas,” he said. “We understand the pain of rebuilding after disaster and mourn with families who have lost loved ones.”
Marcos also shared his confidence in the resilience of Texans and in Trump’s leadership to help them recover from the tragedy.
The Philippine Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) confirmed that no Filipinos were reported dead or affected, with updates from the Consulate in Houston indicating the local Filipino community is safe.
Meanwhile, search and rescue operations continued in the Texas Hill Country, though hopes of finding additional survivors have faded. Over 170 people remain missing as of Tuesday night, according to Texas Governor Greg Abbott.
