Veteran actress Maricel Soriano has opened up about her battle with spinal arthritis, revealing in her latest YouTube vlog how the condition has affected her ability to walk and left her in constant pain.
Maricel, 58, shared that the arthritis in her spine has extended up to her neck. Despite steroid injections — including directly into her spine — the pain has persisted.
“It took a while before the treatment took effect, so I was limping… my feet felt numb, like needles were pricking them. On top of that, I have a pinched nerve,” she said.
Spinal arthritis, as described by Johns Hopkins Medicine, results from inflammation in the spine’s joints, causing pain, stiffness, and numbness in the limbs. The most common form is osteoarthritis, often brought on by age-related wear and tear.
Rather than rushing into surgery, Maricel said she’s exploring all non-invasive options.
“We’re considering everything before resorting to surgery. I don’t want that if it can be avoided,” she explained.
To help manage her condition, she undergoes therapy and does water exercises to reduce pressure on her spine.
Maricel also delivered a message of hope to others facing similar health challenges.
“When your body talks, you listen. Don’t be afraid. Tell your body: ‘You can’t beat me. I can beat you.’”
She added, “Don’t forget, the same God who works miracles for others loves you just as much.”
In closing, the actress thanked her fans for their prayers and support.
“Thank you so much to all the fans praying for me and for the pain to go away,” she said.
