Severe Tropical Storm Kristine has disrupted power services for over half a million customers of the Manila Electric Company (Meralco). As of 8 a.m. on October 24, around 535,000 customers have experienced power interruptions, according to a Meralco advisory.

The majority of affected customers are in Cavite and Laguna, with additional outages in parts of Rizal, Quezon, Batangas, Metro Manila, and Bulacan.

Meralco, which services 39 cities and 72 municipalities, urged customers to follow safety precautions, including turning off main electrical switches, unplugging appliances, and ensuring that wiring and devices are dry before use. The company assured the public that restoration crews are working around the clock to restore service.

Customers can report outages and other concerns through Meralco’s social media channels, text, or hotline services.
