The crime rate in Metro Manila declined by 21.71% from January 1 to February 15, 2025, compared to the same period last year, according to the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO).

📉 Total focus crimes: 852 (2024) → 667 (2025) (185 fewer cases)

Biggest drops in crime rates:
Homicide:50%
Rape:41.57%
Physical injuries:38%
Murder:34.62%
Theft:23.08%

Reasons for the Crime Rate Decline

Increased police visibility in key areas such as:

  • Business districts
  • Busy streets and alleys
  • Secluded areas
    Intelligence-driven operations targeting criminals and lawless elements

Higher Crime Solution Efficiency

Cases solved in Metro Manila:

  • 2024: 93.91%
  • 2025: 95.84%

The NCRPO credited the decline to better investigative capabilities and stronger cooperation between the police, judiciary, and community.

“This consistent decline in crime is a result of the strong and dependable partnership between the police and the community,” said NCRPO Chief PBGen. Anthony Aberin.

With continued efforts, the NCRPO aims to sustain this downward trend in crime and further improve public safety in Metro Manila.
