Kapuso actor Michael Sager turned emotional after he and partner Ralph de Leon were nominated for eviction in the first round of Pinoy Big Brother: Celebrity Collab Edition.
The duo was nominated for reportedly overstepping boundaries and being “maharot” (flirty) with fellow housemates. For Michael, the nomination hit hard, especially because he felt misunderstood.
“If I show my true self, people don’t like me. But if I try to protect myself, they still don’t like me. It’s hard,” he said. “I guess I’m just disappointed in myself. Whatever I do seems wrong. Maybe that’s why it’s so hard for me to make friends.”
Michael admitted feeling responsible for their nomination, especially with the “overstepping” feedback. “I was only trying to help the group. I didn’t want to assume anything, but maybe people are connecting the dots and it all points to me.”
He added that his intentions were driven by teamwork and efficiency. “For me, this is work—it’s not just for me, it’s for all of us. I step in when needed because I want to contribute to our success, especially for our food and daily tasks.”
Michael also opened up about how he tends to solve problems on his own, a mindset developed from growing up feeling alone. “I’ve always had to rely on myself. That’s just how I’ve learned to survive.”
Kuya reminded the housemates that misunderstandings are part of living under one roof, but they are still a family.
Meanwhile, Ralph stood by Michael, saying their nomination doesn’t feel like a loss as long as they stayed true to who they are. “We’re a duo, and I’ll walk out that door proudly with him if this is how our story ends,” he said.
