Actress and beauty queen Michelle Dee recently revealed she was bitten in the face by her pet dog, urging followers not to take dog bites lightly.
On Instagram, Michelle shared a photo showing gauze on her right cheek and under her chin, followed by a video of her visit to a clinic for treatment.
“No matter how much we love our furbabies, never underestimate dog bites,” she warned. “Act quickly.”
Her reminder comes amid renewed public concern over rabies, following two recent fatalities in the Philippines—one man died nine months after a bite, and a woman died just two months post-bite.
In 2024, the Department of Health reported 426 deaths linked to rabies, stressing the importance of timely vaccinations and awareness. Rabies remains 100% fatal, but also 100% preventable with proper medical action.
If bitten or scratched by an animal, experts recommend immediately washing the wound with soap and running water and seeking medical help at the nearest Animal Bite Treatment Center.
