Filipina tennis ace Alex Eala saw an early end to her Birmingham Classic campaign in the UK, bowing out in both singles and doubles events.

Eala, seeded third, battled Czech player Linda Fruhvirtová in a nearly three-hour singles match but eventually lost 7-5, 6-7(7), 6-1 in the first round. Fruhvirtová, ranked 152nd by the WTA, surged ahead in the final set to secure the win.

In the doubles draw, Eala partnered with Swiss player Rebeka Masarova, but the duo fell short against Australians Storm Hunter and Ellen Perez, losing 6-4, 6-4 in the opening round on Monday.

The 20-year-old Eala, currently ranked 73rd globally, also recently exited the French Open early—bowing out in the first round of singles and the second round of doubles.

Despite recent setbacks, Eala remains determined to bounce back stronger in upcoming tournaments.
