The Traslacion 2024, a grand procession in celebration of the Feast of the Black Nazarene, witnessed a massive turnout of 6.5 million devotees. The event, marking the return of the traditional Traslacion after a three-year hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic, saw the image of the Black Nazarene travel from Quirino Grandstand to the Quiapo Church.
The procession, which started at 4:45 a.m., concluded at the Quiapo Church at 7:44 p.m., taking a total of nearly 15 hours. Devotees, such as Ariel Quijano from Davao City, joined the event to seek blessings and pray for personal intentions, like the recovery of her husband from cancer.
Many believe in the miraculous powers of the Black Nazarene to grant prayers and bring healing. Another devotee, Fe David, has been a follower since 1971 and attended this year’s procession with her son, praying for her children’s health and safety.
