As of 12 noon today, December 29, 2021, Visayan Electric Company was able to energize 121,996 out of the 474,182 affected customers, 13 days after their franchise area plunged into total darkness as Tyhoon Odette left massive destruction in Cebu.
VECO also said in a statement that it has restored 337 or 61.9% out of the 544 power line segments, within its franchise area.
The second largest power distributor said that their distribution facilities sustained heavy damage such as toppled poles, downed wires, and damaged transformers which makes power restoration to take much longer.
“Our linemen from Visayan Electric, together with the engineers and crews from various distribution utilities from all over the country, have been working 24 hours a day to clear lines and restore power at the soonest and safest time,” VECO added.
VECO serves the cities of Cebu, Mandaue, Talisay and Naga and the municipalities of San Fernando, Minglanilla, Liloan and Consolacion.
