A motorcycle rider was caught counterflowing on the EDSA-Santolan flyover in an attempt to evade traffic enforcers after being spotted illegally using the busway, according to a report on Saksi.
The rider admitted to violating traffic rules, stating:
“Wala sa katwiran, sir. Alam mo naman tayong mga Pilipino, kung pwedeng takasan ang problema, parang ganun.”
(“I have no excuse, sir. We Filipinos tend to find ways to escape problems.”)
He also revealed that he had previously been fined P5,000 in December for the same violation but panicked when he saw authorities from DOTr-SAICT.
Now, he faces another P5,000 fine, along with penalties for reckless driving and counterflowing.
During a two-hour operation, 30 vehicles were caught illegally using the busway, including an ambulance, which was ticketed because it was not handling a severe emergency case.
