The National Police Commission (NAPOLCOM) has called on whistleblower Julie “Dondon” Patidongan, also known as “Totoy,” to formally file a complaint affidavit amid his allegations linking police officers to the disappearance of cockfight enthusiasts, or sabungeros.
NAPOLCOM Vice Chairperson Atty. Rafael Calinisan explained in a dzBB radio interview that filing directly with their office would speed up the process, as cases filed with NAPOLCOM are not subject to appeal.
“We urge him to file the affidavit here,” said Calinisan. “As the watchdog of the police, we are obligated to investigate.”
Earlier, NAPOLCOM confirmed it already has a list of police officers suspected of involvement and plans to summon them for administrative investigation.
Calinisan emphasized that while investigations are ongoing, the commission is proceeding with caution. “Whatever venue the case starts from, it will eventually end up with NAPOLCOM,” he added.
Meanwhile, Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin Remulla confirmed that 15 officers suspected of executing the missing sabungeros have been placed on restricted duty pending further inquiry.
