Anthony Edwards delivered a standout performance, notching his second double-double of the season, as the Minnesota Timberwolves defeated the New York Knicks 116-99 at Madison Square Garden on Friday night.

Edwards, who sank 8 of 13 shots from beyond the arc, tallied 36 points, 13 rebounds, and 7 assists to lead the Timberwolves to their fifth win in seven games. The Timberwolves tied their season-high with 22 three-pointers while shooting a season-best 55% from deep.

Naz Reid’s Perfect Night

Naz Reid added 23 points, including a flawless 6-for-6 from three-point range, becoming the fourth player in the NBA this season to accomplish such a feat with at least six attempts. Reid is also the fourth Timberwolves player in franchise history to achieve this milestone.

Balanced Team Effort

Supporting Edwards and Reid were Mike Conley (13 points), Rudy Gobert (11 points), and Jaden McDaniels (10 points).

Julius Randle, who was traded to Minnesota in October, returned to Madison Square Garden for the first time since the deal, contributing 8 points, 7 rebounds, and 6 assists for the Timberwolves.

Knicks Struggle to Keep Pace

Despite a strong effort by Jalen Brunson, who led the Knicks with 26 points, the team has now dropped six of its last nine games following a nine-game winning streak. Cameron Payne and OG Anunoby added 18 points each, while Mikal Bridges and Josh Hart scored 15 and 12 points, respectively.

Closing Run

After the Knicks tied the game at 78-78 late in the third quarter, Reid’s three-pointer put the Timberwolves back on top. In the fourth quarter, Minnesota went on a decisive 25-12 run, with Edwards and Reid anchoring the victory.
