Nearly 4 million people, or 1,067,656 families, were affected by the impact of tropical cyclones Nika, Ofel, and Pepito, according to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC).

Affected Regions

As of the NDRRMC’s 8 a.m. report on Friday, affected populations were reported across several regions, with the following areas hardest hit:

  • Bicol Region: 1,906,994 people
  • Cagayan Valley: 809,637 people
  • Eastern Visayas: 408,593 people

A total of 244,492 individuals (67,971 families) sought refuge in evacuation centers, while 116,898 people (32,764 families) were staying in alternative shelters.

Casualties and Damages

The cyclones left 12 people dead, 14 injured, and three missing. Floods and landslides caused significant destruction, with reported damages including:

  • Infrastructure: ₱2.71 billion
  • Agriculture: ₱52.39 million
  • Houses: 52,987 damaged (43,790 partially, 9,197 totally)

Power, water, and communication outages were reported in some areas, alongside the suspension of operations in 95 seaports. Classes were canceled in 744 areas, and work schedules were suspended in 447 locations.

Areas Declared Under State of Calamity

State of calamity declarations were made in several areas, including:

  • Bangar, La Union
  • Bautista, Pangasinan
  • Quirino Province
  • Santiago, Cabagan, and Tumauini in Isabela
  • Baggao, Cagayan
  • Aurora Province
  • Mountain Province
  • Aguinaldo and Asipulo in Ifugao

Relief and Assistance

The NDRRMC reported that ₱277.62 million worth of assistance has been provided to affected individuals and families.

Cyclone Paths

  • Nika: Made landfall in Dilasag, Aurora, on November 11 and exited the PAR on November 12.
  • Ofel: Entered PAR on November 12, made landfall in Baggao, Cagayan, on November 14, exited PAR on November 15, and briefly re-entered before leaving again on November 16.
  • Pepito: Entered PAR on November 14, made landfalls in Panganiban, Catanduanes, on November 16, and Dipaculao, Aurora, on November 17. It exited PAR on November 18.
