The scheduled arraignment of actress and social media personality Neri Naig for syndicated estafa was postponed once more on Thursday, January 9, 2025, at the Pasay City Regional Trial Court (RTC).
According to a report by Saleema Refran on 24 Oras, the delay was due to a pending motion filed by Naig’s legal team. Naig, accompanied by her husband, Chito Miranda, refrained from making any public statements about the case.
The arraignment was initially set for December 3, 2024, but was deferred as the court awaited the prosecutor’s response to a motion to quash filed by Naig’s camp.
Prosecutor General Richard Fadullion revealed that the case will now be forwarded to the Department of Justice for further proceedings.
Background on the Case
Naig was arrested in November 2024 after complaints were filed by investors of Dermacare, a skincare company. However, she was released by the Pasay court due to procedural issues in the arrest process.
Her co-accused, actress Rufa Mae Quinto, was also released after posting bail earlier on January 9, 2025.
The legal counsel for the complainants, Robert Labe, acknowledged the legal measures being taken by the accused but emphasized the validity of the complaints, saying, “The facts remain that there are private complainants.”
