The regional director of the Department of Health in Region-7 dispel reports circulating in social media that Cebu now has lack of oxygen supplies amidst the rising cases of COVID-19 that resulted to some getting hospitalized and requires oxygen due ro difficulty breathing.
“For now, we do not see the shortage. Wala pa naman tayong nakikitang shortage,” said DOH-7 regional director Jaime Bernadas.
Dr. Gerardo Aquino, chief of hospital of the Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center (VSMMC) in Cebu City also said that the hospital has no issue or concerns regarding the supply of oxygen.
“Be assured that VSMMC is not experiencing any shortage of oxygen supply from its supplier and from its own oxygen generation plant,” said Aquino.
Aquino added that their plant provides the hospital with around 700 tanks of oxygen daily which is intended for all their patients and they have also a backup supply from their supplier anytime, if needed.
