Overseas Filipino worker (OFW) Dafnie Nacalaban had planned a heartwarming December surprise for her family back home. Instead, her loved ones were met with tragic news: Dafnie’s body was found in a state of decomposition in her employer’s backyard after being missing for two months.
Her sister, Michael Nacalaban Lensahan, shared their heartbreaking last exchange:
“We asked her when she planned to come home. She said, ‘I will surprise you in December.’ It turns out this was her surprise,” Michael said.
Michael added that during their last conversation in May 2024, Dafnie had not mentioned facing any problems.
“Our only wish is to bring her home and seek justice for what happened to her. Why did they do this to her?”
Suspect Detained After Sibling’s Tip
According to Eduardo de Vega, Department of Foreign Affairs Undersecretary, the suspect’s sibling alerted the authorities, leading to the discovery of the body.
“The suspect’s sibling informed the police. Upon investigation, the police found the body in an advanced state of decomposition, almost two months old,” de Vega said.
The suspect, who reportedly has a prior criminal record, has since been detained.
De Vega assured the public that the Philippine government would work to bring justice for Dafnie’s tragic death.
“It’s heartbreaking that this happened as the year ended,” he added.
