The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board-7 told operators of the Modern Public Utility Jeepneys in Cebu to return to their original routes effective today, November 1, 2021.

LTFRB-7 regional director Eduardo Montealto Jr. in his Regional Office Order No. 2021-R7-06 stated that previously issued special permits will be renewed automatically but they must return to their original routes.

Currently, Level 2 status is implemented in the cities of Cebu, Mandaue and Lapu-Lapu including Cebu Province, the reason why MPUJs are needed to ply their original routes.

In the exigency of service, Montealto said that his office will issue special permits to MPUJs due to high demand of the passengers on some of the routes and do not have an overlapped of more than 25 percent to an existing route.

Montealto added that all special permits are deemed cancelled if the operator has an unsettled pending violators.

Montealto further said that after November 15, 2021, all special permits are deemed cancelled unless another extension will be issued.
