The Philippine National Police (PNP) announced that a P14 million reward will be distributed to informants who provided crucial information leading to the arrest of Kingdom of Jesus Christ (KOJC) leader Pastor Apollo Quiboloy and four others. The reward includes P10 million for Quiboloy and P1 million each for the four additional accused individuals.
In a press briefing, PNP spokesperson Police Colonel Jean Fajardo confirmed that the reward will be given to the informants, although their identities and the exact number of recipients will remain confidential for their safety.
“We cannot reveal who or how many they are because their lives could be in danger. It will be discussed who is entitled to the reward,” Fajardo said, adding that they could not confirm if the informants were members of KOJC.
Authorities have been pursuing Quiboloy’s arrest at the KOJC compound in Davao City since August 24. According to the PNP, Quiboloy surrendered on Sunday after being given a 24-hour ultimatum, during which authorities threatened to enter a building in the KOJC compound if he did not turn himself in.
Quiboloy surrendered to the Intelligence Service of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (ISAFP) at 5:30 p.m. on Sunday and was transferred to Camp Crame in Quezon City later that evening.
KOJC legal counsel Atty. Israelito Torreon stated that Quiboloy surrendered to avoid further violence at the KOJC compound. He also expressed that Quiboloy could not bear the suffering of his followers.
Quiboloy faces charges under the Special Protection of Children Against Abuse, Exploitation, and Discrimination Act and qualified human trafficking. Additionally, he has been indicted by a U.S. federal grand jury for multiple counts of sex trafficking, conspiracy, and bulk cash smuggling.
Quiboloy has consistently denied the allegations against him.
