The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) has issued a storm surge warning for several coastal areas in Luzon and the Visayas as Typhoon Ramil continues to intensify while moving across the Philippine Sea.
According to PAGASA, strong winds and heavy rainfall brought by Ramil could trigger storm surges reaching up to three meters high in low-lying and coastal communities. Residents in affected areas are urged to remain alert, especially those living near shorelines and riverbanks.
The weather bureau advised local government units to take precautionary measures and prepare evacuation plans to ensure the safety of residents. Fisherfolk and small sea vessels are also strongly discouraged from venturing into the sea due to rough conditions.
PAGASA continues to monitor the typhoon’s movement and strength, reminding the public to stay tuned to official updates and advisories from government agencies.
