The Philippines’ campaign in the 2024 Paris Olympics continues on Friday with significant events for the country’s athletes.
At 3 p.m., golfers Bianca Pagdanganan and Dottie Ardina will resume their quest for a medal in the women’s individual stroke play. Pagdanganan is currently positioned at T6, while Ardina stands at T36 on the golf leaderboard. The golf tournament will run until Saturday.
Weightlifter Vanessa Sarno is set to compete in the women’s 71kg event early Saturday at 1:30 a.m., aiming to secure an Olympic weightlifting medal.
The Filipino weightlifters have yet to claim a medal in the current Summer Games. John Ceniza recorded a DNF in the men’s 61kg event, and Elreen Ando finished 6th in the women’s 59kg weight class.
So far, the Philippines has secured four medals in the games: two golds from gymnast Carlos Yulo and bronze medals from boxers Aira Villegas and Nesthy Petecio
