MANILA — Malacañang responded to Senator Ronald “Bato” Dela Rosa’s criticism of perceived threats against lawmakers, clarifying that no specific individuals were targeted and urging everyone to avoid being “obstructionist.”
“With all due respect to Senator Dela Rosa, ‘batu-bato sa langit, ang tamaan ay huwag magalit,’” said Palace Press Officer Undersecretary Atty. Claire Castro during a briefing, stressing that her earlier statements were general and not directed at anyone.
Castro emphasized that President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. is focused on pushing forward key national programs and wants all elected officials to work together, regardless of party affiliation. She reiterated that the administration is only opposing actions that block progress, not legitimate dissent or opposition.
In an earlier interview, Dela Rosa had reacted strongly to Castro’s previous statement that Marcos welcomes “legitimate oppositionists” but will confront “obstructionists.” He warned that starting with threats would not lead to healthy cooperation between the executive and legislative branches.
Castro, in response, encouraged unity now that the elections are over. She noted that the President sees no more political divisions and expects all officials, regardless of affiliation, to collaborate for the nation’s benefit.
“This is for the people. Let’s move past politics and work together for progress,” she said.
