The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) will extend financial assistance and posthumous honors to the family of Seawoman 1 Diane Janica Alinas, who was among the ten fatalities in Thursday’s tragic SCTEX crash in Tarlac.
Alinas and her husband were killed in a multi-vehicle collision at the Tarlac City Toll Plaza, leaving behind their 2-year-old child, one of the few survivors of the incident.
PCG Commandant Ronnie Gil Gavan announced that the agency will provide P250,000 in financial aid to Alinas’ family, in addition to support from other government agencies. She will also be posthumously honored for her five years of dedicated service.
The Department of Transportation (DOTr) has since directed the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) to suspend Solid North Transit Inc.’s operations. The LTFRB also instructed the Passenger Accident Management and Insurance Agency (PAMI) to promptly release insurance claims, with P400,000 in coverage for each deceased passenger.
DOTr is considering filing criminal charges against the bus driver and the bus company involved in the accident.
