The Philippine Navy has launched its first fast attack interdiction craft-missile (FAIC-M), marking a significant advancement in its naval capabilities and self-reliant defense initiatives. The vessel, named BRP Albert Majini (PG909), was unveiled in a ceremony on Tuesday at the Naval Shipyard in Cavite City.
“This milestone showcases our commitment to enhancing national security and advancing the Self-Reliant Defense Posture (SRDP) program, particularly in shipbuilding,” said Philippine Navy Chief Vice Admiral Toribio Adaci Jr. “This effort not only empowers our armed forces but also supports our industries to drive innovation, solidifying our status as a maritime nation.”
The BRP Albert Majini is part of the Acero-class patrol gunboat fleet, designed for the Littoral Combat Force. It boasts rapid interception capabilities and a top speed of 40 knots, ideal for responding to maritime threats along the country’s coastlines.
The missile-capable attack craft is expected to bolster the Philippines’ coastal defenses and support its mission of safeguarding national maritime interests. Representatives from Israel, a project partner, were also present at the ceremony.
“This significant event underscores the growing partnership between our nations in strengthening the Philippine Navy’s capacity to secure its waters and uphold maritime security,” stated the Israeli embassy.
