The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) has issued a cautionary statement regarding Mount Kanlaon, indicating that the volcano may experience further ash emissions or minor eruptions following a recent minor explosive event on Friday night.

The eruption produced grayish ash plumes that rose up to 600 meters above the summit before drifting west-southwest and northwest. Additionally, PHIVOLCS recorded at least five volcanic earthquakes within a 24-hour period. Sulfur dioxide flux on October 23 was measured at 1,196 tons.

In response to the increased activity, PHIVOLCS maintains Alert Level 2 over Kanlaon Volcano, indicating a state of heightened unrest. Under this alert level, entry into the four-kilometer radius Permanent Danger Zone (PDZ) is strictly prohibited, and aircraft are advised to avoid flying near the volcano.

Residents in nearby areas are urged to stay informed through official advisories and to take necessary precautions to ensure their safety.
