The Philippine National Police (PNP) has reaffirmed its commitment to public safety following four hostage-taking incidents across the country from January 20 to February 18.

Recent Hostage Incidents:
Taytay, Rizal – A one-year-old girl was held hostage by her father, who surrendered after an hour-long negotiation.
Digos City, Davao del Sur – A suspect forcibly took a one-year-old girl, but residents restrained him before police arrived.
Manila – A woman was taken hostage by a suspect fleeing a stabbing incident but was freed after negotiations.
Lipa City, Batangas – A cashier at a gadget store was taken hostage at a mall, leading to the suspect’s arrest. A police officer was wounded in the operation.

PNP’s Response & Public Assurance

PNP Chief Gen. Rommel Marbil praised the police force for its professionalism and emphasized that these are isolated cases, not signs of organized crime or a worsening security situation.

“The safety of our citizens remains our top priority. We will continue to strengthen our crisis response and law enforcement strategies,” Marbil stated.

Despite these incidents, the PNP reassures the public that peace and order remain stable nationwide.
