Philippine authorities have dismantled a baby‑trafficking ring involved in the illegal online sale of infants. During a sting operation, the PNP Women and Children Protection Center, in coordination with other agencies, arrested multiple suspects who allegedly offered children for sale on social media platforms.
In one instance, a one-month-old girl was rescued after allegedly being sold for ₱40,000. The same baby was reportedly purchased for ₱20,000 earlier in the day, highlighting a disturbing profit-driven chain.
The suspects, aged in their 20s, are now detained and facing serious charges under the Anti‑Trafficking in Persons Act for their role in the scheme.
Child protection authorities have issued strong warnings against the online sale of infants, stressing that traffickers exploit social media to prey on vulnerable families.
