Law enforcement teams have been mobilized to arrest former Ako Bicol Rep. Zaldy Co and 17 other individuals linked to a massive corruption scandal involving flood‑control infrastructure projects. Arrest warrants were issued by the Sandiganbayan anti-graft court following formal charges filed by the Office of the Ombudsman.
President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. personally announced the move, stressing that no one will receive special treatment and calling the evidence “real, not speculation.” The allegations stem from investigations by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) and the Independent Commission for Infrastructure (ICI), and involve officials from DPWH and executives from Sunwest Corporation.
In response, the Ombudsman urged law enforcement to execute the warrants “without delay” and make sure the suspects are brought before the court.
