The Parish Pastoral Council for Responsible Voting (PPCRV) reported several cases of discrepancies between voters’ selections and the receipts issued by automated counting machines (ACMs) during the early hours of Eleksyon 2025.
According to PPCRV spokesperson Ana Singson, these irregularities were not limited to one area. “So far, reports are coming from different locations. We haven’t identified any specific pattern,” Singson said.
She emphasized this is the first time the group has encountered such mismatches, including one instance where a voter chose four senatorial candidates, but the receipt showed eight names.
In addition to mismatches, some ballots were voided due to overvoting, further complicating the process.
Singson said it’s too early to determine if the issue lies with the machines, as they do not have access to the actual ballots. “We’ll know more once the random manual audit is conducted. That’s when we’ll confirm if the machine’s counting was accurate,” she explained.
