The Philippine National Police (PNP) reported that four individuals have died and 12 others were injured as of midday during Monday’s Eleksyon 2025.

In a 1 p.m. update, authorities revealed that two of the fatalities were from a shooting in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM), involving a municipal council candidate and the brother of a barangay official.

The other two deaths occurred in the Negros Island Region, where eight more were wounded in an undisclosed incident.

So far, the PNP has logged 12 election-related incidents across several regions including Zamboanga Peninsula, Northern Mindanao, Davao Region, BARMM, Negros Island Region, Metro Manila, and the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR). These involved shootouts, armed clashes, machine glitches, robbery, and a fire.

Despite these events, PNP Chief Police General Rommel Marbil said that the overall conduct of the midterm elections has remained mostly orderly.

“Our elections are running smoothly—100 percent peaceful in most areas. The only exceptions are a few disturbances in Mindanao,” Marbil stated during an ambush interview.

The Commission on Elections (Comelec) noted that early voting hours for seniors, persons with disabilities, and pregnant voters were set from 5 a.m. to 7 a.m., with regular voting running from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. These priority groups are still allowed to vote throughout the day, as long as it’s within the cutoff time.
