A city prosecutor in Pasig has officially dismissed the criminal complaint filed by police against a lone activist involved in a rally at the Discaya Compound.

The protest, which took place earlier this year, saw the participant arrested and charged with illegal assembly among other allegations. However, the prosecutor’s resolution found the evidence insufficient to pursue prosecution and recommended that the case be closed.

Human-rights advocates welcomed the decision, noting it underscores the principle that mere presence at a demonstration does not automatically equate to leadership or criminal liability.
