President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. suffered a major hit to his public approval and trust ratings in March, according to Pulse Asia’s latest Ulat ng Bayan survey. His approval rating plummeted from 42% in February to just 25% in March, while his disapproval surged to 53%. His trust rating also dipped drastically by 17 points, with more than half of Filipinos (54%) now expressing distrust.
The sharpest declines in support for Marcos came from Metro Manila (-24), followed by Balanced Luzon (-20), Mindanao (-14), and the Visayas (-10). Among socioeconomic groups, the drop was most notable in Class D (-18), then Class E (-12), and Class ABC (-9).
In stark contrast, Vice President Sara Duterte saw a boost in her approval, which climbed from 52% to 59%. Her disapproval rating dropped by 10 points to 16%. She gained the most support in the NCR (+22), with strong approval also from the Visayas (+17), Balanced Luzon (+5), and Mindanao (+3). Duterte’s trust score rose from 53% to 61%, with notable increases in Class ABC (+14), Class E (+13), and Class D (+7).
Meanwhile, Senate President Francis Escudero and House Speaker Martin Romualdez also experienced a downturn in public trust. Escudero’s approval fell by 8 points, and his trust rating dropped from 47% to 38%. Romualdez’s disapproval increased to 54%, with 57% of Filipinos expressing distrust in him.
The Pulse Asia survey was conducted from March 23 to 29, 2025, with 2,400 adult respondents interviewed face-to-face. It has a national margin of error of ±2%.
