MANILA, Philippines — Puregold Price Club Inc. (PGOLD) has reported a robust financial performance for 2025, with consolidated net income growing 8.8 percent to ₱11.3 billion, driven by steady store expansion and a shift in consumer behavior toward value-oriented retail.
In a disclosure to the Philippine Stock Exchange on Wednesday, April 1, 2026, the grocery giant announced that consolidated net sales reached ₱208 billion, a 5.4 percent increase from the previous year. The growth was largely attributed to a 3.1 percent rise in comparable sales and the strong performance of its 44 new stores opened throughout 2025.
The positive results come despite the inflationary pressures that have gripped the country in early 2026. Analysts note that Puregold’s “no-frills” model and its Tindahan ni Pole program, which supports sari-sari store owners, have positioned the company as a defensive play for investors.
“Puregold continues to benefit from its strong presence in the middle-to-low income segment,” said a senior analyst at a local brokerage. “As fuel prices hit ₱140 per liter and the peso remains at record lows, households are increasingly seeking out outlets that offer bulk pricing and essentials at the lowest possible margin.”
As of the end of 2025, Puregold and S&R Membership Shopping operated a combined total of 572 stores nationwide. The company’s portfolio includes:
- 498 Puregold stores (including Extra and Minimart formats)
- 28 S&R Membership Shopping warehouses
- 46 S&R New York Style QSRs
The S&R segment was a particularly strong contributor to the bottom line, showing a 10 percent increase in same-store sales growth, signaling that even the affluent segment is prioritizing value in their grocery consumption.
While the 2025 figures are strong, Puregold faces a challenging start to 2026. The national energy emergency and the spike in logistics costs have increased the overhead for temperature-controlled storage and logistics.
To mitigate these risks, Puregold has been accelerating its transition to renewable energy. By the end of 2025, over 100 stores were partially powered by rooftop solar panels, a move that is expected to provide significant cost savings as electricity rates fluctuate.
The company’s board has also reaffirmed its commitment to shareholder returns, maintaining a dividend payout policy consistent with previous years. Shares of Puregold (PGOLD) remained relatively stable following the announcement, outperforming the broader property and retail sectors which have seen recent volatility due to the Middle East conflict.
