MANILA, Philippines — Public utility vehicle (PUV) drivers outside Metro Manila will begin receiving their government assistance package on April 6, 2026. President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. announced the rollout during a vlog released on Sunday, aiming to provide relief as fuel prices continue to soar due to the ongoing conflict in the Middle East.
The package is divided into two main components, involving both the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) and the Department of Transportation (DOTr):

The nationwide rollout coincides with a predicted double-digit increase in fuel prices. By Tuesday, diesel prices are expected to reach ₱120 per liter, with some estimates from the Department of Budget and Management suggesting it could climb as high as ₱130 per liter in the coming weeks.
President Marcos assured drivers that the government would not abandon them amidst rising operational costs and ongoing transport protests. He also called on the general public to practice bayanihan by conserving resources and avoiding the spread of misinformation.
“We understand the cries of our fellow citizens who are protesting… but I want to assure you once again, you will not be left behind; the government will not abandon you,” Marcos stated.
The administration is currently monitoring global oil markets closely, as the 48-hour ultimatum regarding the Strait of Hormuz continues to threaten global supply chains and domestic inflation rates.
