The rector of the National Shrine and Parish of the Divine Mercy in Marilao, Bulacan, Monsignor Ranilo Trillana, has passed away at the age of 67 due to prostate cancer. The Diocese of Malolos confirmed that Trillana died on Wednesday, September 11, at around 5 a.m. in a local hospital.
The diocese shared the news on Facebook, stating, “Our dear Reverend Monsignor Ranilo Santos Trillana has peacefully joined our Creator,” and requested prayers for the repose of his soul.
A memorial service is being held at the Main Church of the Shrine from September 11 to 17. A eulogy and tribute are scheduled for Monday, September 16, followed by his interment and Funeral Mass at St. Michael Chapel on Tuesday, September 17.
Monsignor Trillana, a priest for 39 years, had served in various parishes, including the Minor Basilica of La Purisima Concepcion in Sta. Maria, Bulacan. Born in Barangay Sta. Monica, Hagonoy, he was ordained in 1985 at the National Shrine of St. Anne.
