Manila, Philippines – Rondae Hollis-Jefferson (RHJ) powered TNT Tropang Giga to a 95-89 victory over Barangay Ginebra San Miguel in Game 1 of the PBA Commissioner’s Cup Finals on Friday at the Mall of Asia Arena.
RHJ delivered a game-high 34 points, along with 13 rebounds, eight assists, a steal, and a block. His dominant first half (23 points) helped TNT establish a commanding lead, 57-39, early in the third quarter.
Despite Ginebra’s late rally, sparked by Justin Brownlee (28 points, 15 rebounds) and RJ Abarrientos’ four-pointer, TNT held firm. Head coach Chot Reyes credited the win to composure and defense.
“I told the players to expect Ginebra’s run and stay calm. They made a big push, but we kept our composure and forced them into tough shots,” said Reyes.
