Actor Sam Milby, now 19 years into his showbiz career, recently opened up about moments of self-doubt, admitting that he has occasionally wondered if he has become “laos” or a has-been in the industry. During a press conference for his contract renewal with ABS-CBN’s Star Magic, Milby acknowledged that showbiz lacks stability, comparing it to other careers where success can be fleeting.

“It’s something you have to accept,” Milby said, adding that even after a successful streak, actors may find themselves without work. Reflecting on the 2009 hit show Glee, he noted how even Hollywood actors can struggle to maintain steady careers after a major project. Despite these challenges, Milby expressed gratitude for continued opportunities, as he currently works on the upcoming drama Saving Grace, a concert tour, and a new film.

Milby admitted that doubts about his career surface most during downtime, but with his current slate of projects, he feels secure and fulfilled. “When I’m busy, it’s not something that worries me,” he shared, though he acknowledged that feelings of uncertainty can return during lulls between projects.

Milby recently renewed his contract with ABS-CBN, joining fellow artists like Jake Cuenca, Francine Diaz, and Joshua Garcia in extending their partnership with the media giant.
