Vice President Sara Duterte landed in Amsterdam on Thursday, just hours before her father, former President Rodrigo Duterte, was transferred to The Hague Penitentiary Institution to face trial before the International Criminal Court (ICC).

The Office of the Vice President (OVP) confirmed that she arrived at 7:49 p.m. (CET), or past 2 a.m. in the Philippines. She is scheduled to meet with legal representatives and seek access to her father, who is awaiting trial for alleged crimes against humanity linked to his administration’s war on drugs.

Sara Duterte is also set to hold a media briefing in The Hague on Friday, March 14.

Meanwhile, her brother, Davao City Representative Paolo “Pulong” Duterte, has also been granted travel clearance for a personal trip to Japan and the Netherlands.

Duterte’s Transfer to The Hague

Rodrigo Duterte was taken into custody on Tuesday morning after his arrest upon arrival from Hong Kong. He was flown to the Netherlands, with his plane landing at Rotterdam The Hague Airport at 4:54 p.m. (CET) on Wednesday. He was then transported to The Hague Penitentiary Institution at 7:34 p.m. (CET) in a black vehicle.
