Seventeen barangays in Butuan City have been flooded after heavy rains brought by Tropical Storm Uwan, prompting local disaster authorities to place the city under a red-alert status. Within hours of intense downpours, several low-lying communities saw rising waters, leading to partial road closures and traffic disruption.
In barangays such as Pigdaulan, Lemon, Basag, and Pianing, residents reported swift water level increases, particularly near creeks and riverbanks. Officials urged those living in exposed areas to evacuate early. Meanwhile, major thoroughfares in Ampayon and Sto. Niño became impassable for small vehicles as floodwaters continued to rise.
