Shai Gilgeous-Alexander delivered a stellar performance with 35 points to propel the Oklahoma City Thunder to their 11th consecutive win, crushing the Memphis Grizzlies 130-106 at home on Sunday.
The Grizzlies, who were on a two-game winning streak, struggled without key players, including Ja Morant (right shoulder sprain), Zach Edey (concussion), and Brandon Clarke (knee soreness).
Thunder’s Offensive Explosion
The Thunder racked up a season-high 35 assists, led by Jalen Williams with eight. Despite starting the game sluggishly with missed shots and turnovers, Oklahoma City quickly found their rhythm.
Gilgeous-Alexander sparked the Thunder’s offense, making his first six shots and pushing the team to a commanding 29-point lead in the first half. By the end, he shot an impressive 14 of 19 from the floor, including 13 of 14 inside the arc.
Oklahoma City capitalized on Memphis’ mistakes, scoring 33 points off 21 turnovers and outscoring the Grizzlies in the paint 56-36.
Balanced Scoring Effort
In addition to Gilgeous-Alexander’s heroics, six other Thunder players scored in double figures. Ajay Mitchell added 17 points off the bench, while Aaron Wiggins chipped in 16.
Grizzlies’ Struggles
Desmond Bane led Memphis with 22 points, but the team shot a season-low 38.1% from the field. Starters Jaylen Wells and Jaren Jackson Jr. combined for just 5 of 29 shooting, contributing to the Grizzlies’ offensive woes.
Key Highlights
One standout moment saw Gilgeous-Alexander race past Luke Kennard and finish with a scooping layup in the final seconds of the third quarter, further asserting Oklahoma City’s dominance.
The Thunder, now leading the Western Conference, showcased their depth and resilience even on the second night of a back-to-back. With this win, they continue their push as one of the NBA’s top teams this season.
