Shiela Guo, the alleged sister of the dismissed Bamban, Tarlac Mayor Alice Guo, confirmed during a Senate hearing on Thursday that they met with Alice’s supposed parents, Wen Yi Lin and Guo Jian Zhong, in Singapore after leaving the Philippines by boat.
Senator Risa Hontiveros had previously referred to this encounter as a “reunion” in her privilege speech on August 19. Shiela corroborated this during the questioning by Senator Sherwin Gatchalian, who was inquiring about the whereabouts of Alice Guo’s alleged parents.
When asked by Gatchalian about Guo Jian Zhong’s current location, Shiela replied, “Baka sa China. ‘Di ko sure.” (Maybe in China, I’m not sure). She confirmed they had indeed met in Singapore when further questioned.
Gatchalian also inquired whether Wen Yi Lin was present in Singapore, to which Shiela confirmed. He asked if their meeting on July 18 in Singapore was a “reunion,” and Shiela agreed. However, when asked where Alice’s supposed parents went after their meeting, Shiela stated, “Uwi na sila sabi pero ‘di ko alam kung saan sila uwi,” indicating that they said they were going home but did not specify the destination.
Alice Guo, along with Shiela, Wen Yi Lin, Guo Jian Zhong, and her alleged brothers, Wesley and Seimen, were ordered arrested by the Senate after failing to attend an investigation regarding the raided Philippine Offshore Gaming Operator (POGO) hub in Bamban, Tarlac.
Shiela had earlier revealed that she, Alice, and Wesley left the Philippines through multiple boat rides. They initially stayed in Malaysia for four to five days, where they met Cassandra Li Ong, Wesley’s girlfriend and the authorized representative of Lucky South 99, a POGO hub raided in Porac, Pampanga. After Malaysia, the group flew to Singapore.
Details on their stay in Singapore remain unclear, but Shiela noted that she later traveled with Alice and Ong by ferry to Batam, Indonesia. Shiela is currently in Senate custody, while Ong is detained at the House of Representatives following their arrest in Batam on August 22.
Alice Guo was arrested in Indonesia on Wednesday morning and is expected to return to the Philippines by Thursday evening. She denies all allegations, including her involvement in the POGO hub operations in Bamban, Tarlac.
